Glasgow Kelvin MSP, Sandra White has today welcomed the announcement by First Bus of a forthcoming delivery of 22 new electric buses to the City of Glasgow in time for the UN’s COP26 conference. This significant increase in electrically powered public transport has been funded in conjunction with Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) and BYD UK Ltd.

This announcement goes to furthering the aims of First Bus in becoming a leader in the transition to a low-carbon future; having recently announced its commitment to operating a zero-emission bus fleet by 2035, as well as pledging not to purchase any new diesel buses after December 2022.

Commenting Sandra White MSP said:
“This is fantastic news and shows the commitment not just of First Bus but also their partners in achieving the Net Zero target we all have. Removing as many diesel vehicles from our roads as is possible will be central to our efforts at a local level in meeting our city and national Net Zero targets.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to the whole team at First Bus and I look forward to using their service before, during, and after COP26”.
