Nicola Sturgeon has today given a statement to the Scottish Parliament outlining the phased lifting of lockdown restrictions. These screenshots are from the Scottish Government website and cover a wide range of areas and how restrictions are planned to be eased.
The First Minister stressed that before any new phase is adopted there will constant review of the scientific data. Therefore further relaxation of lockdown restrictions can only be achieved if people maintain 2m social distancing, use face coverings in shops or on public transport and sensibly follow the existing advice.
Phase one is likely to start on 28th May, but this will depend on continued progress and review.
Today’s announcement was hugely positive and I am reassured by the care that is being taken and the time that is being given for people, employers and other organisations to prepare. This is a responsible way for restrictions to be lifted, but requires us all to continue following advice.
We will post more advice as it becomes available and I want to thank people locally who have been doing all they can to help on the frontline or follow the stay at home message to protect lives.
